COMPLETE TITLE: An Apology for the Life of Mr. Colley Cibber, Comedian, and Late Patentee of the Theatre Royal. With an Historical View of the Stage during his Own Time. Written by Himself.

LATER EDITIONS:
The first edition of April 7 was followed by a second revised edition, again published by Watts, on May 14 of the same year, bearing the same title.
Another edition was published in Dublin in 1740: Dublin, Reprinted by and for George Faulkner, 1740.

Third edition, To which is now added, A Short Account of the Rise and Progress of the English Stage: Also, A Dialogue on Old Plays, and Old Players: London, R. Dodsley, 1750. The Dialogue on Old Plays, and Old Players had been originally published in 1699 with the title Historia Histrionica (see).

Fourth edition, In two volumes.
