COMPLETE TITLE: An Epistle from Mr. Theophilus Cibber to David Garrick, Esq; to which are prefixed, some occasional verse, petitions, &c.
Printed for R. Griffiths; and to be had also of Mr. Cibber.

With this texts and the later Dissertations on Theatrical Subjects (1756) (see), Cibber wanted to criticize the monopoly of licensed theaters and carried out a violent attack, both on a professional and personal level, on Garrick who was at the time the manager of the Drury Lane.

The Epistle was included in the appendix of the 1756 edition of the Dissertations.
The two texts were published together in the following editions:
- Cibber's Two Dissertations on the Theatres. With an Appendix, in Three Parts, London, Printed for the Author, and are to be had of Mr. Griffiths (the Publisher), [1756?] (see).
- Theophilus Cibber, to David Garrick, Esq; With Dissertations on Theatrical Subjects, London, Printed for W. Reeves and J. Phipps, 1759 (see).
