COMPLETE TITLE: An Epistle from Mr. Theophilus Cibber to David Garrick, Esq; to which are prefixed, some occasional verse, petitions, &c.
Printed for R. Griffiths; and to be had also of Mr. Cibber.
With this texts and the later Dissertations on Theatrical Subjects (1756) (see), Cibber wanted to criticize the monopoly of licensed theaters and carried out a violent attack, both on a professional and personal level, on Garrick who was at the time the manager of the Drury Lane.
The Epistle was included in the appendix of the 1756 edition of the Dissertations.
